India: Internet services especially 4G services had been banned by the Indian government in the majority of the districts in the state. The primary reason behind the ban was to restrain the amount of backlash with respect to New Delhi’s decision to revoke Kashmir’s semiautonomous status in August of 2019.
Although the Indian government partially lifted the ban in two districts by allowing only 2G internet services with a majority of entertainment as well as news channels still remaining banned. This was done as “trial” in order to see the response of the state that is home to approximately 13 million individuals.
Now that the ban has been finally lifted and fast speed internet services have been resumed, we can only hope that there is no repercussions.
