Delhi: Recently, a petition was filed by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the Supreme Court of India seeking 50 per cent reservation for OBC (other backward classes) candidates in medical and dental college admissions.

The decision was given by the bench headed by Justice L. Nageswara Rao and in its judgment, dismissed the petition challenging the decision of the Central government of not allowing 50 per cent quota in medical and dental colleges in the Tamil Nadu state-run institutions.

It should be noted that before this judgment the SC directed the petitioners to seek relief from the Madras High Court where the HC had directed the central government to form a committee and take decisions on the issue.
