U.S.A. v. Levandowski

Ex-Google Engineer In Prison.

In the case, U.S.A. v. Levandowski, the defendant Anthony Levandowski was ordered to spend 18 months in prison for stealing trade secrets from Google as he defected to Uber Technologies Inc.

The defendant pleaded for mercy and stated that “I can’t change what I did, but I can learn from my mistakes”. Nonetheless, Levandowski was given a sentence (18 months) by the U.S. District Judge William Alsup who stated that the defendant is an excellent engineer but it is necessary to send him in prison as not doing so would give other ‘brilliant engineers green light’.
